"The Twisting Staff"
refers to an episode, which I analyse in chapter 2,
from the Hikayat Raja-raja Pasai

The rules of the road in academic publishing are such that I cannot put my entire dissertation on the web without undermining its prospects for print. I have, however, made available here the introduction, abstract, table of contents, dedication, bibliography, and acknowledgements.

On page aesthetics: ideally, you should set your browser window's width so that the entire right hand bar marks the edge of your window.
